Lunch in 6th? (Post 16)
“So what would you do if you ever met a vampire.”
“Hum. Perhaps ask it if it had ever read any of the novels, and see what it thought of them. What about you…” Fai asked without turning around. “Any thing you would want to do if you met a vampire?”
Zoie looked right into Fai’s eyes and said, “I would take it out to a stake dinner.” She waited a moment and then giggled quietly.
“Common,” Zoie nudged Fai with her elbow “its not like they really exist.”
Fai just scooted his chair over a bit and stuck his nose back in his book washing away the bad joke with bad writeing.
Studie hall went by quickly, Zoie got little work done but did get alot of daily gosip out of the way. Studie hall was a perfect choice for last period, all the rumors where ripe and ready for telling by that time. The biggest rumor going round was of the girl who had the gawl to ask out Edmond and totally biffed getting what she deserved.
The bell rang and Zoie turned to the chair next to her that she’d been ignoring the whole time. “Ready Fai?”
Fai glanced up over his book and rolled his eyes. “Do I have a choice?”
“No.” Zoie grabbed Fai’s arm and pushed him to the door where 30 people were all trying to exit at once.
It wasn’t long before Asher came jogging over, his messy hair wet and in his face from showering in gym. “Sup Guys!”
Zoie smiled, “I gotta meet up with Ashley, if you need help call and I’ll try to get away.” She nodded to Fai and walked off to the stairs to meet her group.
Bad Literature for a good cause… (post 15)
“In you go, i’m not going to be late because of you”
Fai felt Zoie give him a solid push through the door. He rolled his eyes as he started walking towards his chosen spot that would provide him the least amount of interaction with other students when he felt another tug on his arm as Zoie redirected him down the second row. Then another push planted him smack in the middle of the second row of seats. Right in the middle of all the students.
“What are you…” Fai snapped off before Zoie held up a finger to her lips.
“I’m making sure you don’t bail out the window or something. Trust me, you really do need a make-over and Asher won’t steer you wrong. If you are going to hang out with Asher, then it means i’m going to be seen in public with you. Right now this is charity work that i’m talking to you. Tomorrow we are telling everyone that you missed the first day and that you don’t know anything about a nerd who has the same name as you.”
Biting back a sarcastic remark Fai spun back around in his seat and flipped open his book. “Whatever.”
“What are you reading anyway?”
“Anita Blake”
“I’ve heard of it but never read it. Any good?”
Fai spun back around to look at Zoie. On one hand she might be just trying to make small talk, but on the other hand, the way she pitched her voice showed a hint of actual curiosity. “No, its horrible. The author has no clue what she is talking about, and even worse, has no clue how to write a proper story. It’s like she just makes it up as she goes along and when she writes herself into a corner, she just hands her characters more power so they can succeed.”
“Hum, well why read it?”
“I don’t know,” Fai shrugged and pondered for a moment. No one had ever asked him before. “I suppose I have this fascination with vampires as they are portrayed in media. So many different variants, so many different myths. I’m always curious what people perceive vampires to be like and how the myth has evolved over time.”
“hummm, and?”
“There is a mix. The oldest stories are heavily slanted towards vampires being akin to demons. Clearly church propaganda. The newer stories have vampires still being demons but on the side of good. I find it quite interesting.” Assuming the conversation had come to an end, Fai turned back around.
“So what would you do if you ever met a vampire.”
“Hum. Perhaps ask it if it had ever read any of the novels, and see what it thought of them. What about you…” Fai asked without turning around. “Any thing you would want to do if you met a vampire?”…
Sweep Me Away(Post 14)
Asher sat in Chem chewing on the end of his pincel, cupcakes long gone and another whole hour of school ahead of him. He was lucky and was sitting at the back of the class next to the “experiment zone” where they got to play with all the chemicals. But today they didn’t get to play with chemicals, today was exciting release forms and awesome instructions on lab safty woo hoo.
Just gimme my goggles and some chemicals and we’ll see what I can blow up this year.
Asher shifted in his seat watching the clock, the minut hand looked like it was compeating to be the slowest object in the universe. And it was winning if he had any vote in the matter. Glancing over to his right he saw his new friend, nose still in book. Fai had refused to talk or pass notes during class, all the notes he had writen where stuffed in Fai’s backpack without a glance.
He doodled in the corner of his “Chemesty Class Rules” paper that he was supost to be initialing. Messy hair falling gently on saft angles, brushing against bold eyes. Asher stopped as if woken up by what he was drawing and looked into the grafite eyes of Fai. He had only seen them for a second but that was enough to embed the blazing blue into his memory, the grafite did nothing to bring out the blue.
Such odd eyes for a normal… BZZZZ The bell struck Asher from his thoughts and he hurredly stuffed everything back into his bag, swinning around he smiled at Fai’s book.
“What’s your next class?”
Fai sneard at Asher over the top of his book, “I already showed you my scedual” he got up and started walking out.
“Yeah yeah, I forgot.” Asher smiled fallowing behind.
Fai rolled his eyes, “Study Hall.”
“Perfect! I have gym lets skip and see if we can’t give you a makeover in the next 16 hours before school.”
“I’m perfectly aware that you have gym next but I’m not skiping study hall, if you want to leave, go.”
Asher pouted, “Common man we can go to the mall, eat, check out that new music store.”
“There is a new music store at the mall?” Zoie chimed in.
“Woah, where did you come from shortie.” Asher laughed.
“I have study hall this hour, this is where study hall is.” Zoie pointed up to the Cafeteria that they where standing infront of.
Asher knowning he wasn’t getting anywhere with Fai turned his attention on Zoie, “We’re going to skip 6th period and give Fai a makeover!”
Zoie’s eyes lit up with an amused glint that creaped Fai out, but then Zoie’s face fell.
“I’m taking Ashley to the mall for cheering up after school, girls only,” the glint came back full force “but dont worry Asher I’ll make sure Fai waits for you after 6th if you go to class.”
Music started to fill the air and kids started running in all directions.
“What is with that music and why do kids freak out whenever it comes on, I mean I know it sucks but why run in terror?” Zoie looked at Asher for answers.
“Its sweep music, if you don’t make it to your class before its over, you get put in with study hall only you don’t get to do anything but sit there and you don’t get credit for showing up to class. So if you have a test, sucks to be you.”
Zoie glared and pushed Asher, “Then what are you doing just standing there, RUN!”
Asher stumbled forward into a sprint, at least the gym was around the corner from the cafe, he’d make it in time and avoide the Wrath of Zoie. He burst thew the gym doors just as the horrable music stoped and the bell chimed.

The Girl Code (Post 13)
One of Zoies friends had hunted down Ashley and texted them the location, so they walked back to school behind the gym.
When Zoie and her friends arived Ashley was slumped over her knees sobing into her blue jeans. Amanda, Ashley’s best friend, was rubbing her back looking worried trying to calm her down.
Zoie was never good at cheering people up, that was Asher’s job. They went to the same elementary school and she was always getting into fights and therefor getting into trouble. He was the one who always cheered her up after the teacher punished her. What would he do in a situation like this? Knowning him it involved food, especialy sweets. That was it!
Zoie kneeled down so she was level with Ashley, she brushed Ashley’s muddy bangs asside to reveal a swolen tear streaked red face. “Ashley, forget about that boy he wasn’t good enough for you anywyas, lets all go shopping and get some icecream after school just us girls, ok?”
Ashley sniffled loudly and nodded her head.
Though if Zoie thought about it that guy was pretty cute, hot even, no wonder Ashley was takin by him. But weither he was cute or not, Ashley had already claimed him and it was her job to help see that threw. Hardening her reserve she helped Ashley to her feet and they all walked the 4th peiorod together, consoling Ashley the whole way.
will this day never end…(post 12)
“No, saying i like you better implies that i like either of you to begin with.”
“HAHAHA! See thats why Fai is cool. He just doesn’t know it yet. Like maybe thats how the cool people were at his old school or something.”
“Uhhh, thats not how my school was.” Zoie glanced back and saw her friends getting ready to head back to school. “Anyway, don’t be late for your next class, you used up all your being late by missing the first two periods of the day. Oh, and try to keep an eye on Asher for me, Fai. I’ve already gotta go find Ashley and make sure she hasn’t added to her social meltdown.”
Fai looked up as Zoie gently drummed her nails against the back of his book with a smirk on her face. Without a doubt Zoie was someone who managed to draw even more attention than Asher… and somehow they were both friends. He watched her make a quick gesture to draw her groups attention before the entire group left, leaving Sonic significantly quieter.
“Well i need snacks…”
Another knock, clearly Asher this time, against his book signaled it was time to head out. While Fai was loathe to leave with Asher, if he didn’t he would be late for his next class.
“Slurpee. Dam, i hope the next teacher is cool about having slurpee’s in class. And cupcakes. And maybe…”
“Why didn’t you just eat more at lunch?”
“Eh? Hay, you put your book away. I was wondering if you could see through your book or something. Hum, you know, your hair’s pretty long. I bet we could do something cool with it.”
“Don’t touch my hair”
“Nah, like this…” Asher pushed Fai’s hair around a little, holding it in place with his hands.
“Don’t touch me…”
“Its cool man, Zoie’s into stuff like this.”
Fai looked up as they walked into 7-11, “what are you trying to say?”
“Maybe wear something different tomorrow. And stop tucking in your shirt. and contacts, you got contacts, right? Maybe some skate shoes…”
Rolling his eyes Fai dragged Asher out of 7-11 before he could buy to many things, limiting him to a handful of hostest cupcakes, and the biggest slurpee cup he could find. “If it will shut you up then I’ll think about it. But if you make me late, I’m going to kill you.”
“And an MP3 player, you got one of those right? Go with the DJ look, some headphones… What kinda music are you into. Dude, you gotta check out this one band. Gimmie your email, i’ll send you the MP3′s tonight…”
————-
Fai’s left eye twitched slightly. Try as he might, Asher’s voice continued to break through his mental barrier. Perhaps the frequency of his voice was just right to allow it to slip through and not be ignored.
perhaps an mp3 player is a good idea… that way i can just make the music louder to tune you out
Flipping open his schedule, a quick comparison with Asher (at asher’s request of course) showed that the remainder of his day would be a mix of peaceful quiet, and… well… asher
A weak spot for sweet things…(post 11)
Fai held the book up over his face as he took another long drink of his pineapple shake. His eyes practically rolled into the back of his head as he savored the tangy sweet taste as it filled his mouth, the chill as it went down his throat, the…
“OH DUDE, You never told me your name!”
If Asher’s voice wasn’t what cut through his daydream, him knocking on his book like it was a door did.
“That’s just like you Asher, I’m Zoie nice to meet you, it’s good to see Asher can make friends.”
Fai focused his eyes for a moment to get rid of any sign of a glazed over look before tilting his book just far enough to look only at the new voice. Not that the voice was new, he couldn’t help but over hear this girls voice since they had sat down for lunch, and much like Asher, was impossible to simply ‘tune out’
A quick scan of the area showed the rest of her friends juggling their attention between Zoie and some other girl, both watching with great interest as the two girls talked to boys one grade above them. While Zoie was doing fine, it seemed that her friend was having a moment of failure. Thankfully failure is always more entertaining than success and the loud yelp and clattering of tray’s brought a smile to Fai’s face.
Zoie tilted her head into Fai’s line of sight, cutting off his view of the tater tot disaster behind her bringing her back into the center of his attention.
“mmmm so she’s that type of girl… and friends with Asher. perhaps she will lose interest if asher is dead… two birds… one stone”
“My name is Fai, this is my first year here. It is nice to meet you.”
“AWWWW CHECK OUT FAI!” Asher jumped up pushing his book down to the table, startling him for a moment and knocking his glasses off slightly. “Thats more words than you even spoke to me… well… ” Asher counted on his fingers for a moment. “No wait, i’m still ahead. He likes me better. Still, pretty smooth. We’ll make something out of you yet!”
Sighing softly, Fai closed his book and took off his glasses. He flicked his eyes up for a moment, letting his bright blue eyes lock on to Zoie’s violet eyes and quickly realized that she was studying him a little to intently. not good… Fai quickly slipped back on his glasses and flicked the book open to the page he left off on. Muttering into the pages of the book, Fai rolled his eyes and took another long drink. “No, saying i like you better implies that i like either of you to begin with.”
Tater Tot Bombs (Post 10)
Ashley fidgited glanced back at her friends, they all made shooing motions for her to do it. She took a step forward which must have cought Edmond’s Attention. When his pircing green eyes met her muddy brown ones she froze in fear and blushed from her toes to her ears.
“I….I….uh…” Ashley looked around her for anything to talk about. She looked down at her feet only her carboard boat of tater tots blocked her view.
“Tots…I don’t want my tots a..and I thought you might want them, if you don’t I’m just going to throw them away anyways.”
Ashley put the tater tots on the table quickly making a couple bounce out and tumble to the floor.
“OH! Sorry! I’m so stupid!” Ashley picked up the tatertots from the floor and put them back in the cardboard boat.
“Those…” Edmond started.
“OH SHIT!” Ashley realised what she’d done and grabed it back. Her hand hit the side of the tray and tater tots scattered everywhere including on Edmond, leaveing shiney grease tracks wherever they landed on his cloths.
Ashley couldn’t take it anymore and bloted, not even stopping when her friends yelled out for her.
What? (Post 9)
Arriving early, apparently, did not equal academic success.
First period math was an absolute blunder, and just to make things worse, due to lack of rest it was discovered that sleeping in Ms. Williams’ class results in rather archaic consequences (standing outside while holding buckets with your arms extended, is that even legal?). 2rd period involved study hall because of frivolous activities with some fun freshmen girls and being late for biology. It was deduced that the freshmen class’ persons of the female orientation seemed….DELIGHTFUL this year. 3th period history was ok, but because of teacher’s boring demeanor, said teacher’s name was not recorded into his memory bank.
NOW. Now twas time for lunch. Uncharacteristically, he decided not to let anybody cling to him, to serve the purpose of looking at everyone from an unbiased point of view (people watching was fun, even better than interacting with people sometimes). Though this was quickly forgotten, for lunch food beckoned with the howls of one thousand wolves. HUNGRY wolves. He quickly got into the line, and after some sweet talking and carousing in the ordering machine’s general direction, a delicious extra greasy burger was acquired. Now, a seat. Choosing was kind of easy, considering there was one empty table. Which was fine, just for today.
He rushed to the table to avoid it being stolen. As he sat down, he laid his back back on top of the table. A sort of a do not disturb sign (at least in his mind). The watching commenced. He really spotted no one interesting, at first anyways. A gal with pink hair….How….Flashy. He lifted the burger to his mouth and proceeded to wound the delicious morsel with his teeth. Ghastly. As he was about to repeat the process, a girl (“Woman?…What makes a woman a woman?”) walked up to him with tater tots in hand. Delicious tater tots. Thats right, a girl. A quick analysis revealed that she was….decent in looks.
But he wasn’t about to turn a lovely young lady(nor anyone) away~
Blooming Friendships or Booming Hardships? (Post 8)
Zoie’s dyedpink hair was parted in curly pig tails revealing blond roots grown in, black kohl coated violet eyes sparkled as she laughed with her friends. She popped another fry with extra salt, the only thing she ever ate for lunch, into her mouth.
One of her friends, the one with short cropped brown hair and dull eyes squealed excitedly.
“What are you squealing about Ashley?” Rondell, another friend asked covering one ear.
“It’s HIM” Ashley pointed.
The whole table turned to fallow her finger to see a short messy haired boy with geeky glasses. Everyone stared at Ashley as if she had gone crazy.
“Not HIM, the one sitting down.”
Again the whole table turned to find the person she was squealing over. And there he was sitting at a table behind the guy with glasses, the boy Ashley had been obsessing over since that morning. They had found out his name was Edmond after a little detective work for her.
Maranda nudged Ashley “Go over and talk to him!” Ashley blushed and shook her head no.
“How could I? He’s so hot, and I’m so….not.” Zoie started to nod at this when Rondell kicked her under the table.
“You’re totally hot Ashley, you should go and ask if you can eat with him.” Zoie managed to say half cringing and rubbing her leg.
Ashley blushed harder, “O..ok I’ll go ask him.”
“Really?!” Zoie blurted out earning her another kick to the shin.
Ashley Picked up her tots and walked over to Edmond. Zoie and the rest of the girls watching her in amazement.
That’s when Zoie noticed a person who was sitting behind her loudly talking about ‘Sycamore Hypothesis’ a local band.
“ASHER!” Zoie jumped up and hugged Asher from behind. “I didn’t think you where going to make it to the first day of school!”
Asher stopped mid rant and strained his neck to see who was hanging on him.
“Zoie! Of course I made it to school, I even got her by 3rd period.”
Zoie giggled and sat down next to Asher already forgetting Ashley’s plight “I finally get to be in school with you again, it feels good to be a high schooler.” Zoie smiled and flicked her head in Fai’s direction “Who’s your new friend?”
Asher smiled at her “This is …uh….OH DUDE you never told me your name!”
Zoie giggled, “That’s just like you Asher,” she glanced over at the other boy “I’m Zoie nice to meet you, it’s good to see Asher can make friends.”
